About Wayne E. Pollard
Former journalist Wayne E. Pollard is an artist and cartoonist who knows the healing power of art. He uses images that move him emotionally or spiritually in order to create evocative paper collages, some of which have been liked on Instagram by Jerry Saltz, the Senior Art Critic for New York Magazine.
Born in Brooklyn, Wayne attended art classes at the Brooklyn Museum as a child. He was introduced to collage by his older cousin (an award-winning collage artist) and made his first mixed media collage when he was 13 years old. After a 30 year break, Wayne returned to making collages in 2020 when a grief counselor suggested it as a way to heal after his father passed away unexpectedly. And in March 2023, Wayne had a solo exhibition at One River School of Art & Design in Millburn, NJ.
Wayne's influences are Hannah Höch, Romare Bearden, Robert Rauschenberg, Max Ernst, Sir Peter Blake, Kurt Schwitters, and others. His instructive and inspirational videos on Instagram are liked by both new and experienced artists.
